It’s always a little daunting for me to visit my brother-in-law, an art maven and television writer who seems to have the lowdown on everything and anything happening in Los Angeles. I’ll invariably ask about some restaurant or gallery that’s been touted in The New York Times and he’ll just as invariably look at me with a mixture of despair and exasperation, as if to say, “That’s not so yesterday, it’s so last year.”…
